Our Story

Universal Shaamgaud Allah: “A Word To The Wise! Beware of False Knowledge; It is more dangerous than ignorance!”
The 5% Nation of Gods and Earths was founded on October 10, 1964 after Allah the Father, born on February 22, 1928 as Clarence Smith, brought his understanding of the Supreme Wisdom Lessons of the Nation of Islam (NOI) to the youth of Harlem. While a Registered Muslim in Temple No. 7 under the leadership of Malcolm X, Allah the Father, then known as Clarence 13X, had the theophany that he himself was Allah and sought to teach the Original Asiatic People the truth of their identity of divinity.

After meeting much opposition from various factors and factions within the Black community, Allah the Father, along with his right hand man, Justice, and also Abu Shahid, who left the NOI with him, understanding that “the babies are the greatest,” gave the teachings, along with a system he devised of deciphering their truths known as Supreme Mathematics and Supreme Alphabets, to the children. Allah the Father became a father figure to many of the misguided and marginalized youth and made boys into men and men into God firmly rooted in the soil of the Original Asiatic Black Woman as Mother Earth.

Allah the Father charged the collective cream of his students, known as the “First Nine Born,” with the task of spreading the message that “THE BLACK MAN IS GOD AND THE BLACK WOMAN IS THE EARTH,” with Black people including the entirety of the global majority of Black, Brown, Red and Yellow people and with the duty to teach civilization to all the human families of the Planet Earth being neither Pro-Black or Anti-white. The mission is popularizing pro-righteousness and advocating anti-devilshment wherever it may exist.

Propelled by Allah the Father’s “self-styled wisdom” the “Suns of Allah” taught hundreds and then thousands in the New York City and Tri-State area turning gangs into Gods. In 1968, after the assassination of Martin Luther King, while ghettos across the nation burned, Allah and his Five Percent, now wholly a distinct entity from the Nation of Islam, kept peace and maintained order in Harlem.

In honor of this accomplishment, Mayor Lindsay granted Allah the Father and his Five Percent a “Street Academy,” currently known as Allah School in Mecca, to further the teachings. Additional recognition of his accomplishments was recently bestowed upon him when the intersection where Allah School in Mecca stands was co-named “Allah, Justice and The Five Percenters Square.” As of this writing, there is a campaign seeking landmark status for Allah School in Mecca as a long-time cultural institution and one of the few remaining pre-gentrification establishments of “Old Harlem” as the Mecca of Black People.

Since its humble beginnings, the teachings of the 5% Nation of Gods and Earths have reached, influenced and impacted millions worldwide through its permeation of pop culture. The 5% Nation is credited as a major influence on the development of Hip-hop by cultural and industrial pioneers such as Afrika Bambaataa, Kool Herc, Russell Simmons, and Fab Five Freddy. Indeed, Rakim Allah, hailed as the greatest MC of all time by many of the greats, is of the 5%.

Among those who have propagated the teachings of the 5% Nation of Gods and Earths are Wu-Tang Clan, Nas, AZ, Jay-Z, Jay Electronica, Erykah Badu, Busta Rhymes, Brand Nubian, Poor Righteous Teachers, Lakim Shabazz, members of Stetsasonic as Gravediggaz, Boot Camp Clik, Gangstarr, N.O.R.E., Big Pun, Big Daddy Kane, the aforementioned Rakim, KRS-ONE, Roxanne Shante, The World Famous Supreme Team, Carmelo Anthony, Nelly and the St. Lunatics, KillaArmy, Killah Priest, Sunz of Man, J-Live, Raz Fresco, Planet Asia, the Grammy Award winning Digable Planets and countless others.

The 5% Nation of Gods and Earths is forever firmly intertwined in the fabric of society as “God in the Ghetto” within the realms of cultural, political and spiritual empowerment.
